Due to some wobble in the main blade and obvious blade loss I set it aside to keep it secure.
I do pack it once in a while.
Funny how old standby tools will tug on you.
Nice knives all.
I like em both guys!

But there’s something about an old worn knife or an old shotgun with no blueing left on it that just calls to me when it comes time to use one. I can’t explain it, that’s just the way it works with me.
I'm with you matey, there just something about them. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: ::nod:: ::nod:: ::nod::

Thanks guys.
By the way, I didn't put all that wear on that knife. I bought it at a tag sale, used for $15.

Here’s a retired sentimental favorite of mine. I’ve posted it before in another thread. My wife gave it to me as a sort of wedding present when we married in 1971. I carried it and put a lot of miles on it, and then one day I misplaced it. Thought it was lost and only then did I realize how much it meant to me. ::facepalm:: Then our youngest son found it after it had lived several months in the pasture. I cleaned it up and decided then to retire it, lest I lose it again. (Something to consider, Wade.)

Here it is, well earned warts and all. Well used but still has great snap, very slight blade play.

 That was about twenty years ago when my son found it! ::tu::

I just threw it in here to give Wade perspective about what it’s like to lose a sentimental keepsake.

I bought this Kabar 1121 Rigging Knife back in June 1982 at a San Diego pawn shop for $10. This was right after my ship (USS CONSTELLATION CV-64) returned from her 2nd 9+month WestPac/IO cruise in 2 years. I was on the CONNIE from the 3rd week of February 1980 to the third week of May 1982 - nearly 20 months deployed during the 27 months I was assigned to her.

I took 30 days of leave (I had nearly 80 on the books), attended 3 weeks of Navigator School and off to Japan I went to be Navigator on the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), Seveth Fleet flagship.

This 1121 was one of my EDCs from the day I bought it until about a month ago, when I quit carrying it due to the celluloid handle scales shrinking, cracking and about to come off. My other 2 EDCs prior to and after getting the 1121 were a Buck 110 or 112 and a no-name all stainless steel lockback I bought at a Target in San Diego. I retired the Bucks and no-name with the lighter weight Buck Bucklite 482/484/486 set came out.

During the 38 years I carried the 1121, I doubt I have cut anything with it more than a 5 or 6 times. In fact, I haven't sharpened it since put an edge on it after I bought it. I would invariably use one of the other folders or one of my fixed blades. One of the advantages/disadvantages/results of carrying 6 knives. I carried the 1121 primarily for the fid.

I'm still debating getting the scales replaced vs keep using the 1121 back-up I pulled out of a drawer.

Note - Kabar recently pulled the model number 1121 out of mothballs and is using it on their new throwing knife that comes in a set of three.
