2020 What did Santa bring you?

This isn't one I got for Christmas it's yet one I'm giving for Christmas. I held it back to avoid postal issues. I'll be sending it out next week. Kaleb did the work on this. It's a Case 5347 I bought w/o handles on it. Kaleb put the mammoth ivory on, fluted the bolsters, and did the double vine file work. I can't imagine anyone not liking this.

Wow just bob, Kaleb fixed you up on that one. I will be watching my mail box. (At least a fellow can dream) Someone is going to be overwhelmed. Wonderful knife.

I received a Case 2020 07 Mini-Trapper (woo hoo baby. It's a beauty.), a couple of books one of which I just finished reading so I have to take it back and exchange it. Also got a can of Girl Scout Dill Pickle Peanuts. They're pretty good. And the icing on the cake was a gift card for the grocery store. Apparently I'm hard to buy for.

That's a pretty one there, Jerry! A great addition to the collection.

My wife did me good...and NOTHING from Stauer. First, she got me a 'tool' chest like Waukonda's, except it's a four drawer. Me very happy. This chest is solid oak...no particle board in this baby. Yes...it will be used for knives.

My oldest daughter and I have a podcast that we record. We have a very small following. My younger daughter had our name and logo put on coffee mugs for us.
Not an expensive gift - but one of my favorites!

First knife my wife has given me; Wharncliffe lock-back in 440C, mirror polished, file worked, leather sheath and a sharpening steel. Nice weight and fit & finish.

Mark, nothing rude about that question. It came from Harbor Freight. It suits my needs fine, but I will say that it is not particularly rugged, which goes with it being not particularly expensive. If you are going to be giving the drawers a workout on a daily basis, or have any youngsters around that may be getting into the chest, you may wish to go with the solid wood type like Ken showed in his post. I just happened to see these and asked Mrs. Claus for one It will work fine for me.

Thanks so much Ike! I thought perhaps because it was a gift that it might be rude to ask such a question, but I'm glad it didn't offend you. I've been displaying my collection in the vinyl and felt pouches with the elastics, and they've worked great, but, I'm finding that a lot of dust is accumulating on the open pouches and knives, plus, I'm running out of room for pouches, so I figured a chest like yours or Ken's would protect my knives better, and, afford me more room. It sounds like the one you have will work just fine for me because, once a knife goes into it I'll close the drawer to keep the dust off and only open one drawer at a time, once a day to retrieve my knife for that day, and, a couple times a year I will open them all for maintenance, so the drawers won't take a lot of abuse. No kids running around here so that's not an issue. Thanks again for taking the time and effort to help me out! Mark!

Agree that the cleaning of a well seasoned pan is easy to clean,as you said ,a fried egg slides right out . And after cleaning agree as well ,less is better when applying coat of oil..

This is the result from the sanding, seasoning and the first cook up, cooked a couple of lamb chops and potato fritter for breakfast. First cook up and not a hint of sticking, but i did get the heat right, the main reason for food sticking to a pan is people don't get the pan hot enough.

New.

Sanded.

Seasoned.

First Cook.

After first cook and clean. Have a look at the first photo when new, and compare the color of the pan after seasoning and first use, nearly black compared to grey, that is why you have to season. Hope you are having a good boxing day.
