I know I was blown away by a gesture made toward me not too long ago, and you're displaying the same kind of selfless giving that was shown to me. I'm dealing with a recent death in the family and my mind is clogged-up with all sorts of things, and I thought I wouldn't have time to participate on-site, but I wanted to post a new knife I just received and as soon as I logged-in my mind cleared and I was able to relax a bit from all the things running over and over in my head. Your description of this being an "Oasis" is spot-on, that's exactly how it feels, thanks!

Truly sorry for your loss Mark. I absolutely know what it's like mate, my Baba went home last summer.
The ache is still there, it will always be, and so it should.

Least I have my Lord's comfort, in knowing that she's in a better place now.

I have always found "knife guys" (women too) to be some of the most down to earth people that I've come across.
They are some of the most helpful with their knowledge that I have ever run across, and this site is the best I've
found. The world is too divided now in so many ways, I figure that all I can do is try to be a decent person, and if
that makes things a little better for someone, then that's great. I've always found that I get it back many times over
in one way or another.

Your "Comfort Knife" thread has been great. Like I said, it struck a chord with me, and it looks like many others also.

I was looking through my knives for one that I haven't played with lately, and came up with this one! It's a smaller version of the Hubertus "Slimline" autos, and is 7 3/4" oal/SS flat-grind blade, what I believe are NS bolsters and lever because they are a different color than the brass on the knife, brass liners and pins, and seasoned looking Rosewood covers. I would guesstimate the weight at about 4 oz.'s, and the blade is incredibly sharp. Bears all the Hubertus markings, and was built and bought in Germany. This knife cracks open with authority, which is likely attributed to it's 4mm spring, and locks-up solid every time. Hubertus builds a 10" "Slimline", and I want one so bad I can almost taste it! A very well built, fun to play with, automatic knife!

It's not an easy thing to deal with. I hope you get some comfort out of your friends here on the forum. The internet can actually be a good thing sometimes. Well fellas, I'm just about out of knives to post until some new one's arrive, but I do have a couple left! This one today was purchased through Ebay, came from China, and I got it strictly for it's looks and ornate engraving. It's a very simple lockback that measures 7 7/8" oal/SS drop-point blade with n/n, 2-piece engraved body, no liners, and a lanyard hole. All the SS accounts for it's 5 oz. weight, and came factory sharp. The only markings are an etch on the mark side blade saying "BODA/Stainless". Walks and talks smooth and snappy, and fit n' finish is standard Chinese quality. In my mind, this is a newer version of a standard jack-knife, albeit somewhat different in appearance, one you'd drop in a pocket for the day, and use regularly throughout performing various duties. Inexpensive, but solid!
