Schrade parts knives
No doubt since Schrade closed their doors more than 20 years ago, there have been countless thousands of knives assembled from the parts that were sold off at auction. I obtained a box of those parts from a friend a while back, and among the items in the box were two sets of handles for the Schrade 6 OTX, one aluminum color and one black, the 6 OTXB. After some work locating the additional pieces needed, I was finally able to assemble 2 knives from parts. Are they authentic to the Schrade originals? No. Are they useful knives for EDC ? Of course. I located original pocket clips online, obtained a 6 OT blade and lockbar from Dale ( orvet), a 6 OTX blade, lockbar, and springs from Kaleb ( muskratman), and screws from online sources. These are really neat, light weight pocket clip knives with the same blade size as the much heavier 6 OT, 7 OT, LB7, LB8 and so on. The 6 OTX blade is somewhat different than the ordinary 6 OT in that it is a drop point with a built in thumb flipper. Since there was no flipper on the blade, I made one from aluminum and press fitted it to the blade.
A big Thanks to Dale and Kaleb for their help.

They look like brand new Schrade USA knives to me. You have done a fine job of gathering the parts and assembling them.

Cal, it was for the most part. The original pins and screws of the correct length were not available, so I found some online that were slightly longer and had to shorten all the pins and the #2 - 56 screws that retain them. A very time consuming and fiddly project. But on the whole they turned out great.
Thanks to all for the comments.

Well let's see, I have a frame for a 5.5" Bicentennial clasp knife with scrolled bolsters, no blade or spring ( could make those). Also have 2 new blades, springs, liner lock, and bolsters for Schrade 225 OT. I have located saw blades online, would make the liners and missing bolster parts. Got plenty of stag on hand too.

Re: Schrade parts knives
Jim,
I have a bunch of parts for the newer Schrade knives. SMKW sold Schrade parts in 5 lb lots, many years ago. I bought several lots of them. I probably have some you could use. Let me know what you're looking for. It will be a few days before I can dig through my parts because I'm in the hospital right now but I'm hoping to get out today or tomorrow. Just had another shoulder surgery so it will take me a little time to recover before I can do much in the shop, but I know I've got quite a bunch of Schrade parts out there.

That's fine Dale, hope you get well soon. I have had shoulder surgery before and know it can be slow going to recover. I'll send you a PM later.orvet wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2026 8:04 pm Jim,

Great work, OC! Kind of like putting a puzzle together, once you find all of the pieces!
